Siemens and Brammer working together to help customers’ energy reduction targets

Unstable energy prices, increased costs, regulatory demands and carbon reduction targets all add up to increased pressure for UK manufacturers. Inefficient motor driven systems offer significant opportunity for energy savings and reductions in CO2, and to this end Siemens and Brammer are working together to support customers in upgrading these systems.
Juergen Maier, Managing Director, Siemens Industry Sector UK & Ireland explains: “Despite government incentives and cost saving potential, we know that many manufacturers are finding it difficult to make the necessary changes to update inefficient drive systems in their plants. Through working with Brammer, we can assist our customers make the change to high efficiency drive technology, so that they can start to reap the benefits.”
The case for industry to review its energy usage and efficiency is compelling; most businesses could save 10 to 30 per cent on energy bills through no or low cost energy efficiency measures. Brammer is the number one pan European distributor of quality MRO products and services, and working with Siemens, a world class organisation with expertise in global energy optimisation, the two organisations have established a strategic partnership and a shared objective in reducing energy consumption in the workplace. In 2012, Brammer saved its customers £51m, 11 per cent of which was linked to energy savings.
As one aspect of the Brammer and Siemens partnership, a Drive Train programme has been established to help customers comply with energy-related legislation, and reduce costs and emissions. Services include corporate energy audits, drive train energy assessments that identify quantified improvement options, management of installation and commissioning, development of optimised drive train management policy, financing options if required, and an extensive product supply network.
