Health & Safety

Safety is given top priority and we’ve got robust systems and a clear policy in place to address Health & Safety issues. Naturally we’re always working hard to provide and maintain a safe working environment for all our employees, customers and visitors.  Aiming for continual improvement, our initiatives include:

Regular training with employees - to encourage best practice and keep everyone up to date with legislation.

Formal reporting and review process - compliance is closely monitored in each country, with reporting on a quarterly basis so the board can understand injury statistics and trends across the group - especially relating to RIDDOR incidents.

Vehicle movement practices – by separating vehicle and people movements, we’ve significantly improved transport flow while reducing the potential for accidents in our National Distribution Centres and on branch forecourts.

Online driver assessment – designed to reduce the number of road accidents involving employees while driving company vehicles.

Improved reporting of accidents – leading to better accident prevention.

Regular health and safety audits - at all locations, leading to additional actions and controls where appropriate.

We’ve gained UK accreditation to OHSAS18001:1999, as well as ‘Safecontractor’ status for the installation, repair and maintenance of gearbox systems at customer premises.  We’re also ‘Approved House Assemblies’ – a certification from the British Fluid Power Distributors Association.
